The best way to care for others is to care for yourself.
Self-care is not selfish. Every day, we must decide where we will invest the limited amount of physical and mental energy we have. It can be a struggle to meet the demands of our daily lives, and self-care often goes to the bottom of the list. But we cannot be at our best if we do not care for ourselves.
Energy is more important than time. Think about it—if you have no energy, the smallest task feels insurmountable, no matter how much time you have. But if your energy is high, you can accomplish so much, even if your time is limited.
Self-care is about managing your energy. We are surrounded by things that can drain our energy—world news, social media, unfulfilling work, difficult relationships. To stay healthy, we need to set boundaries on the things that drain us and find ways to recharge our energy when it is depleted.
Practicing good self-care does not mean you have to spend an hour at the gym, or a day at the spa (although those things are nice!). heck out the store for a variety of self-care products to help you stay healthy and balanced. Self-care is not selfish!
